That's terrible! No one could ever replace Steo...not to mention, it would not be a nice burden on the shoulders of the person who did 'per se' take over Steo's place...'YAY I'm in this band because Stephen died.' That'd be horrible and I don't think Boyzone fans would welcome the change...there is only one Stephen Gately, no one could ever take his place in Boyzone.
