Our first attempt at creating a Ruben's Tube.

This is a PVC pipe with holes drilled in it at half-inch intervals. At one end is a spear matching the diameter of the tube, at the other end is a cap with a hole drilled in it and a hose caulked into that hole. The hose leads to a tank of propane. The propane is turned on, and music is played through the speaker. Ideally, the flames would modulate to the frequency of the sound being played.

We can't say "don't try this at home," since that's exactly what we did. But be very careful.

  • sorry forget the last comment, all you need to do is wrap it in foil and the pipe wont melt?

  • this is a great experiment im trying to figure out the best way to do it, doesnt the pvc pipe melt?

  • i learnt the same lesson u need less fire, if your tube is all messed up do what i did, turn it tape the holes up, turn it over try again
