Brenda S. Edwards of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma speaks to the Senate Committee on Natural Resources, the agency administering enactment of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.
Appalling that the hearing on human remains was held by the Committee on Natural Resources.
Brenda Edwards summed up the ongoing governmental narrative of exclusion, saying:
"It is sad for me to note that our ancestors continue to be regarded merely as natural resources instead of human beings. I'm not aware of any other ethnical group who's subjected to this stereotype..."
