  • Praise the Lord, we who belong to Him, will persevere, by His Power!!!

  • Amen. Everywhere we turn are "Christians" who hate the Lord and His Word.

  • Dear brethren, through my own folly I have learned that how we often contend for the faith is in error. We need to contend for those who are still lost, for those young and weak in the faith; but let us make every effort to never fall into the trap of contending with devils who find no greater pleasure than stirring up strife. A thousand arguments will never win a single devil. But let us contend with Prov 15:1 in mind and with knowing what it is to be clever as serpents, yet innocent as doves.

  • No, it is you who has been looking for fault since you first criticised the Spurgeon quote my wife posted.

Considering Spurgeon's quote on God as Master of all creation and His kingship over all the works of His hands, as well as chapter 16 of Calvin's Institutes, yes, there is weakness in your statements.

I do, however, agree that the mature thing to do is move on, because this is fruitless. Goodbye.

  • I'm not "piggy backing" on anyone. And she's not merely my friend, she's my wife. As far as my "insisting", you're guilty of the same thing you accuse me of. But that's fine.

sovereign-adjective (6. having supreme rank, power, or authority. 7. supreme; preeminent; indisputable: a sovereign right. 8. greatest in degree; utmost or extreme.)

    In essence:ALL POWERFUL.

  • @enslaved2God ACruce and you now are both looking for fault .There is no weakness in my statements Calvin Spurgeon can talk in all the luster they proclaim but they do not believe in ABSOLUTE sovereignty. If you want to find fault I'm sure you will, but I think the mature thing is to move on. Unless like I said give a clear precise understanding not a quote of sovereignty

  • @enslaved2God I thought you piggy backing on your friends statements, no problem. But Spurgeon was not an absolute Sovereign believer, neither was Calvin. But you keep insisting Im missing or don't know the men we are discussing.Spurgeon Calvin did not believe in all ordained circumstances and events of peoples lives ordained by God.Unless you give me your definition of Absolute Sovereignty I don't know what you mean by it

  • "There is nothing for which the children of God ought more earnestly to contend than the dominion of their Master over all creation—the kingship of God over all the works of his own hands—the throne of God, and his right to sit upon that throne." ~ Spurgeon

It's clear that Spurgeon taught, as the bible teaches, on the "dominion" of the Lord as "Master over ALL creation" and the "kingship of God over ALL the works of his own hands"...that is absolute sovereignty.

  • @polopowers1 The irony is that in the very Spurgeon quote that ACruceSalus1 posted, Spurgeon himself declares his belief in the absolute sovereignty of God in this world. He speaks, on a grand level, of His fashioning of the worlds, and, on a personal level, of His dispensing as He sees fit upon people.

  • @enslaved2God To undue my vagueness Spurgeon believed man is powerless to choice God from a powerless sinful nature, correct. But he did not believe in absolute sovereignty which is what you said, .Spugeon did not believe all things are ordained by God and cannot be changed. The difference is ordaining believes nothing is out of God's will that He hasn't in sovereignty ordained already and cannot be changed. And all I'm saying is absolute sovereignty is not parceled to means of salvation

  • Those sentiments dilute the scriptural description of mans depravity, and by imputing strength to fallen humanity, rob the Spirit of the glory of His effectual grace: this theory says in effect that it is of him that willeth, and of him that runneth, and not of God that showeth mercy. ~ C.H. Spurgeon

  • It teaches that the blood of Christ was shed equally for all men and since some are lost, this doctrine ascribes the difference to mans own will, thus making the atonement itself a powerless thing until the will of man gives it efficacy.
