This is the final presentation animation my group did for our 3D design class project.
Details:
This was a semester long project. For our team project we had to pick something to model in Inventor 3D, and we decided on a tansformer because we had an actual model of the transformer already. After cannibalizing the model and dividing the parts between group members, we drew initial hand sketchs of the parts and then created 2D CAD drawings using measurements taken from the parts. Once we learned how to use Inventor, we used our CAD drawings to model the parts in Inventor in 3D. Then we assembled all the parts into a complete unit that was then animated.
About the Animation:
From start to finish, the animation took about 30 man hours. Rendering of the animation itself took nearly 30 minutes, during which time the memory on the lab computer capped TWICE. Due to difficulties in constraining the arms, the motion jumps partway through the animation as the arms switch from one set of constraints to another.

Of course, the other presentations in our group were /good/, but I think ours pretty much "pwned" lol.
Haha, cool :P
Did you made that yourself?
