On the occasion of the dress rehearsal of Die Frau ohne Schatten, we are delighted to present a glimpse of the new production of Richard Strauss' masterwork. This opera -- filled with great, dramatic and at the same time very intimate moments -- will captivate you. @iskenderuna I agree about Michaela Schuster I absolutely love her as the Nurse. I bet it would also be fablous to hear her as Sieglinde from Die Walkure. If there ever was a clip of her in that role. :)

@lebendebilder Character yes, but vocally it was too small scale. She has a very beautiful voice and I like the color of the voice. It was just too lyric and she never let go or opened up. I would not even have minded the cracked notes if there had been more passion in her singing. I guess I have been spoilt by hearing Rysanek live in this role so many times (da flogen die Fetzen - Gänsehaut pur was das!!) I agree with everything else you said though :)

Herlitzius was amazing. Schuster very good too. Schwanewilms was overparted and overtaxed- not enough passion. Her breath ran out too often, cracked too many top notes. Too bad the production constantly reminded one of Rysanek's recording - she certainly did not manage to live up to that legend
