This is not animal cruelty. The squirrel was bored, not terrified. Squirrels love excitement, hate boredom. That's why she (looks female) didn't bail out at once but later only when she got bored.

She was looking around for predators. She certainly saw the wooded area behind so had she been fed up with her experience, she would have escaped.

Squirrels are good swimmers; no worry about her drowning in a shallow pool.

She was compensated well with generous love by her trainer.
