Indi lead walking training session

Recently we have realised a problem, Indi is very stressed on the lead. There are a number of reasons for this, but long story short, he doesnt like lead walking and obviously this is a problem. So we've changed his whole walking routine and now just doing short lead walks twice a day, working purely on calm and happy.

This is a short clip showing a session 2 weeks into the training. It shows him clearly distracted, then gaining focus and then being rewarded by sniffing. This is not him at his best or me for that matter, but it shows our method clearly. We do use treats, but it was easier to use tricks as I was holding the phone.

At 1.25 a man walks by when his heads stuck in a bush a man walks by without me realising. Looking closely notice how he glances to me for reassurance before going on to sniff. :).

Also, notice the tail set quite high and wagging when sniffing. One of the main problems we had was when lead walking his tail was very low and tucked and his head was darting all over.

Ignore me having a good chat to myself too. I do generally talk like that, Im a bit strange I know. ;)

It's nice to know i'm not the only one that talks like that!! :P My family always think i'm weird...

Personally it looks like his walking will improve with time, but i'm no expert! :)
