Don't use your US iPhone in Japan unless you absolutely have to! The roaming rate for calls is over $2/minute, and data costs over $15/megabyte!
If you're not careful, you could end up with $1,000 phone bill when you get home!

Just out of curiousity, did you stay at SunRoute Plaza Hotel? It's across the street from shinjuku station and that's where I stayed when I was in Tokyo in April. It was great and good price too. Nice video. I took the bus limo thing from the airport, but took the train when i left to get back to narita.

you are correct, that is where I stayed.
Except I did the opposite for transportation. I took the train from the airport to the hotel.... and the bus from the hotel to the airport.
