Lake Chad, was once the sixth largest lake in the world. Historical imagery, which can be viewed as part of Google Earth's imagery, show the dramatic changes from the 1970s to the 1980s and 1990s as much of the lake dried up. See this and other locations of environmental change as part of the UN Environmental Programme's (UNEP) "Atlas of Our Changing Environment."

  • See the large green area in the pictures? Those are aquatic weeds, predominantly Typha Australis, a big cattail. Everything we do with water encourages the weeds. This is hydrosere in action, and it is reversible. We can weed and dredge this lake and its rivers, and pay for it in the biofuel to be made from the weeds.

  • @giagend hahahaha, Italiano ha?

    Ciao paesano!!!

  • Maremma maiala!

  • uhhh this had nothing to do with global warming...pretty much the only way to explain this is that shit happens. al gore could drink a bottle of water, then make a huge line graph showing some bull sh*t reason why global warming caused the water in the bottle to dissapear over time....ppl are so gullible. LOOK OUT FOR MAN BEAR BIG!
