A "Bay Tour" of San Francisco starting at Half Moon Bay (KHAF) and ending in Palo Alto (KPAO) in a 1970's Cessna 152. The weather was a little windy that day making for a slightly turbulent and bumpy video, but the sky was clear and sunny!

The tour includes take off from Half Moon Bay, a tour up the west coast following highway 1 all the way past Golden Gate Park and up to the Golden Gate Bridge. From there we fly over the Marin Headlands, over Sausalito, Tiburon and Angel Island. Next we circle Alcatraz before flying over city including the Marina areas, Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, and finally pass over Downtown. From there we follow highway 101 over Potrero, Portola, Candlestick Park, San Bruno Mountain and SFO. It's great flying over SFO International at 2000ft, so many planes and runways, always interesting. The flight concludes with San Carlos, Palo Alto and Mountain view including a glimpse of the Google Campus and the Shoreline Amphitheatre, and a landing at Palo Alto. Thanks to Pieter for all the video!

  • Cool video. I'm from the UK but will be flying in th US in December. I'm hoping to replicate the tour in the video while I'm in the states. Any advice?

  • @cb220784 how did it go? sorry to reply late. i recommend flying with a local instructor familiar with bay area procedures and airports. Apparently bay tours and SFO transitions are less common now but check with local knowledge.

  • Great Flight! Very Scenic. I may have to fly the bay tour soon now that I'm living in NorCal, it looks fun. Are you planning on going for your Instrument Rating?

  • @knotts06 I moved to the UK recently and I need to get back into flying. The weather is not so good for flying over here and the prices are a lot more! hopefully I'll be flying again soon!

  • Very good video. Hard to keep the auto focus from focusing on the glass. Did you manually focus on infinity? Flight probably took more than an hour so good editting as well. C-152 probably the best tour airplane except one without wing struts, i.e. Cardinals, etc..is good. I did this tour in a Bonanza out of Hayward and maybe too fast for passengers. You had great visibility to boot. Keep up the good work.

  • @aileron48 if the camera is close enough to the glass then it will normally focus through it. also the cessna is good because the cockpit is dark with the overhead wing so there are few reflections.
