Actually you cannot install GPS on the iPhone because it doesn't have a GPS chip inside of it. He located himself by using Triangulation which uses nearby cell towers to pin point your location as close as possible. Sometimes this will get your exact location and sometimes it will be blocks off. The n95 has a GPS chip inside of it and will give you the exact location and it will give you realtime location if you move around. If you move with the iphone you have to keep on doing the triangulation
