you obviously didn't listen to his studio work or intact any of his actually band performances with the people he played smh. I wouldn't judge his whole career by a free form jazz solo. he was actually playing Quoting a lo of things in this solo, it's just if you don't know you won't catch it. typing in the name Jaco and clicking the first video you see won't give a complete account of what he didn for bass...that goes for any artist.

Overrated? Never heard of the guy yet I played bass religiously for 17 years (pre-YouTube). Now I have personally discovered him, yeh, I rate him, I rate him up the top. But "musically original", even in it's most obscure format like this, it has been done before, anything within 4/4 and the audible human hearing spectrum of 20Hz to 20 000KHz has been done before, just slight variations. But... 'Hi Jaco, how are you - good thanks - I wish you lived longer to showcase your creative magnificence'.
