@gfemg By the way you should know @WhichitaHawk is a disgruntled airbus employee who was fired at Boeings Wichita Plant so now he's taking revenge on Boeing by lying. I can understand him being upset and he was employed by Boeing for almost 30 years, there comes a time when we have to stop working!

@davidwgair All A380s are fully operational. Its pretty irresponsible to makes out that the aircraft is somehow not airworthy, given micro cracks in wing rib feet are a common occurance in most med & heavy airliners. They are commonplace in our 777s/767s/757s as well as A320s/A330s. There are in excess of 2000 such brackets in each wing on the A380 I'm told and this problem involves 6-8 of them. No need to panic buddy, or fall into the press trap of sensationalising it.

@davidwgair Very close call indeed! Parts of the engine blew right through the wing punching a large hole right through it. During the long 130 million dollar repair - they found cracks in the wing on internal structural components - a serious situation which Airbus is inappropriately downplaying. I would not fly on an A380 until Airbus gets Serious about fixing this growing problem - which can lead to an in-flight failure of the wing. They need to ground the entire fleet & fix this now!

@chendrik In light of the discovery of cracks in structural components in one A380 wing after another I wouldn't dare to step foot on to an A380 until this issue is totally and completely addressed and properly resolved. Airbus is not taking this issue seriously enough and their complacency will blow up in their face BIG TIME should an A380 break up in flight. Cracks appearing in ANY structural components inside a wing are a Very Serious Matter that needs immediate attention not downplaying!

We must never forget the lessons learned from the Comet - the first passenger jet in service. It took 3 in-flight breakups of the Comet before they were all taken out of service for a total re-design. We can't afford to have an A380 break up in flight - it would be a disaster on a massive scale. Cracks in wing structural components are the early warning signs of a disaster in the making. Airbus needs to immediately ground every A380 & FIX the problem NOW - Before an A380 breaks up in flight.

As a pilot with college training in strength of materials used in aviation I am disappointed to see that Airbus is downplaying the issue of cracks being discovered in many of their A380 aircraft. Cracks appearing on structural components inside a wing are a very serious matter and in this case enough to prevent me from stepping foot on any A380 until the matter is fully and properly addressed. This situation calls for the grounding of the entire A380 fleet for inspection & repairs as required.
An exploding Rolls-Royce engine nearly caused a QANTAS A380 to crash in Singapore.
