Fast lasing

I often get questions about how fast the laser can go. I run the laser a lot slower than needed for the videos, because it just looks cooler to be able to follow the beam around. Plus, if I ran it at full speed, I'd have a lot of 3 second videos.

So for those interested, here's an example with me cutting a more complicated figure at a significantly higher speed than usual. I stuck my iPhone in there to show there's no trickery in speeding up the video. There are 964 cuts in the pattern, and by my guess, it takes 4.7 seconds to do them all.
