Here's the fantastic Spinners performing live Sadie. Philippe Wynne really gives his all. This is one of the best songs dedicated to mothers.

The Spinners rate as one of the most fantastic groups along with The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Dramatics, The OJays, The Stylistics, The Whispers, The Intruders, Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes, and The Delfonics. They were apart of the golden age of classic soul groups who mesmirized us with their dances, energy, and love songs.

It's Ashame, Rubberband Man, Mighty Love, Could It Be I'm Falling In Love, I'll Be Around, Mighty Love, One of a kind Love Affair, Ghetto Child, Sadie, How Could I Let You Get Away, Then Came You, Games People Play, Love Don't Love NoBody, were among their biggest hits, making them the premier group of the 70's.

  • Philippe hands down was the greatest male live performer since Sam Cook.. That being said, the other hits that he didn't lead on that was recorded in the studio and he ended up finishing the vocals was a testament to his character of soul, for someone to down play his contribution is simply musical ignorance.. Philippe though personally troubled, gave 100% in the studio and on live shows, his 100% is better then all the members before and after put together!!!

  • @CARIBANA00 Philippe was great....but the greatest male live performer since Sam Cooke? You must haven't heard of Jackie Wilson. Sam was a great singer, Jackie was a singer, dancer, and complete entertainer.

  • I don't think they told enough on Phillipe on Unsung. He had a troubled childhood and had some mental problems and drugs problems, for some reason they didn't go into that. They should have talked with Phillipe's wife. Sadly, also both of Phillipe son's were killed tragically, one by drive-by shooting and the other one by drowning because he was trying to save someone. Billy's wife also should have been interviewed.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever Everything is not meant to be told. I'm sure u heard d phrase, it's some things I'll take to my grave with me//same flavor

  • @msbanks2004 Well if your going to tell a story tell it right, its not that people don't know already. I guess if a story was done on Philippe alone, the truth would have been told but since it was on The Spinners, they couldn't just focus on Philippe. Nothing is a secret, God knows what you did, so you can hide stuff from people, but not God. So nothing is taken secretly to the grave.

  • Those guys never put aside the argument that caused the separation between themselves and Phillipe Wynn. Too bad they weren't more higher minded than that. After Phillipe left, The Spinners popularity went in deep decline, with no big hit recordings. Plus most of their big hits had been written by Thom Bell & Linda Creed.

  • @princenelson22 TVone is doing a story on The Spinners for their show Unsung coming this month, check their schedule, hopefully we'll find out what happen between them and Phillipe. Phillipe was supposedly hard to handle and never really felt apart of the group. The other Spinners never admitted that Phillipe did help them become more successful. I guess its hard to admit when one guy is bigger than the group. The other Spinners were good, but Phillipe just added that extra something special.

  • R Kelly was/is bigger than public announcement, and did awesome on this song as well!

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever Look Philippe, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Teddy P, David Ruffin etc........ I could go on and on they were all great in their own way and you really can't compare them b/c it is like comparing apples to oranges. They each brought so much to the table.

  • I think Phillipe personal problems that didn't make it into the biography shouldn't effect the way we think about him or his music.. Drugs and alcohol abuse brought down 90% of all musicians since the 1930s that's nothing new, but to pick on a dead man legacy as a great lead vocalist that propelled a group from an average group to a super group is pure haterade!!!! Philippe Wynne like David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks was the Spinners, its as simple as that!!!

  • Tyra banks racist

  • The was my favorite group. Philippi was so entertaining when he got carried away. 43 is to young to die!!! I just love this group and still listen to them almost every day in the car.

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever plus Lionel, MJ, Teddy Pendergrass & Bobby Brown are the only members of their groups that went on to be bigger if not sell more records than their crews...The greatest R&B group the Temptations had 3 dynamite lead singers in which NONE of them matched the success of their years with their groups. Eddie Kendricks did better than both David & Dennis with 3 #1 jams & classics that are now being sampled heavy in Hip-Hop
