  • @dm3830 Sorry, It's a real isolated track.

  • It's a fantastic soulful bass track & works beautifully within the context of the song as all of Paul's bass parts do - you guys craving perfection don't know shit about rock n' roll, carry your asses back to a Jaco video immediately...& cut your jazz mullets while your at it.

  • love it love it

  • @squawkinpuss Tell me about it, that's what I always say!

  • Maybe after hearing these tracks, people will give a greater amount of appreciation to George Martin. You can't take credit from The Beatles for their writing and playing, but it was George Martin that made their music magical. If nothing else, that should be evident in the boys' solo material. Some of it was very good, but none of it was ever "Beatles" good. George Martin took these tracks that we're listening to, and created masterpieces.

  • I never heard that harmonic at 1:42 before.

  • @TeamMastaPr2 read it again: "by the time the band made "Paperback Writer" and "Rain" in the spring of '66, the Rickenbacker had become McCartney's bass of choice. He used it liberally on Revolver, and, late that year, for "Penny Lane" and "Strawberry Fields Forever," and for the rest of the Sgt. Pepper sessions. McCartney resurrected his Hofners for Let It Be but returned to the Rick -- now sanded back to a natural finish -- for Abbey Road" Get the book the Beatles Gear and see.

  • @TeamMastaPr2 No, he used the Ric and that's what they sound like with flats. I've been playing bass 43 years and own two vintage Rics. I was able to get that exact sound with the stock Maxima strings. Paul stopped using the Hofners until Let It Be.

  • @DavidRavenMoon and yeah... the link you sent me; it doesn't tell me that Paul eliminated the Hofner from the Abbey Road sessions, in fact it does say that it was his instrumental choice. The Rick was the main bass, but Hofner was used destincly during Abbey Road based on what I've heard (I have listened to many bass tracks) - I'm a bassist myself.

I know he used Hofner on Something, YNGMYM (I think he used both here, one part for Hofner another for Rick) and Polythene Pam/SCITTBW

  • @DavidRavenMoon I regocnise by sound too, he used both Rick and Hofner since Rubber Soul (except Sgt. Pepper's and Magical Mystery Tour), I know, not because of Rock Band!

  • @TeamMastaPr2 No, it's the Ric. That's how they sound with the flats they used to come with, and the foam mute. I have two '73 4001s. Paul also used to stuff a larger piece of foam under the strings. Paul started using the Ric on Think For Yourself in '65, and used it on everything up until Let it Be. All of Abby Road was the Ric. The Rockband graphics are wrong. Check out the website "thecanteen (.) com/mccartney6 (.) html"

  • @squawkinpuss THANK YOU. People don't have a clue about real music... it's not always about perfection and flawless technique. Hell, sometimes it's about NOT having that. It's really about soul and feel. This bassline is very imperfect (and also definitely the real track btw), but it doesn't matter because it works and the song as a whole is amazing.
