Parrain de la 7ème Semaine du Son, Murray Schafer est un compositeur canadien qui s'est passionné pour les sons naturels depuis les années 1960. Père de l'écologie acoustique, Murray Schafer milite pour une maîtrise de notre environnement sonore. Dans cette vidéo, enregistrée le 11 janvier au réfectoire du couvent des Cordeliers, à Paris, explique son parcours et les évolutions des paysages sonores urbains a cours des 40 dernières années. La Semaine du Son 2010 se déroule du 12 au 16 janvier 2010 à Paris et du 18 au 24 janvier dans toute la France.
