This is a REALLY self-explanatory title. Let me know what you think. I'm also slowly giving up on how dark the videos are, so be it. Sorry this video got really long, once I start ranting about journalism I can't really stop lol

My parents and i were discussing the news at the dinner table, like we do every night, and my parents started to talk about the repeal of prop 8. I took a deep breath and said, "Hey, that'll be good for me," and they asked, "Why?" I said "I like both boys and girls, so maybe I'll want to marry a girl." They looked at me for a second, then flipped out. I left the dinner table, packed my bag and stayed with friends for the next few weeks, but they've been cool since my first girlfriend.

  • @steelstringgirl nice, glad to hear it all worked out!

  • haha, I remember this...I used the repeal of prop 8 as a stepping stone to come out lol :)

    free NY now too!!! :)

Oh, and, by the way, I want to major in journalism as well, and it's really interesting how different the news outlets are- for world news I usually go to BBC and for American news I'll usually go to CNN

  • @steelstringgirl yeah, i was actually working for an LGBT satellite radio station when marriage equality passed in new york so that was pretty sweet. how'd you use prop 8 to come out?

  • I am fortunate to be in a civil partnership (UK version of gay marriage). Now facing being forced to move for work to a conservative country which doesn't have divorce, let alone gay marriage. Scary times. On US journalism - most networks provide commentary rather than news from my observation on regular monthly visits. Hope you can achieve what you aspire to in your career. People need facts, opinions they should work out for themselves

  • @nigelgdavies Agreed, that is a scary prospect! Thanks for your good wishes and for watching. Good luck with your new job :)
