Hōkūle'a captain Bruce Blankenfeld begins the basics of star navigation.

He's speaking with the crew training for their voyage to Palmyra Atoll.

The Hōkūle'a is sailing to Palmyra Atoll 1,000 miles south of Hawai'i. This voyage is the first deep-ocean training for the Hōkūle'a Wolrdwide Voyage in which the traditional Hawaiian canoe will circumnavigate the Earth. The crew carry with them the idea that we are all crew members on Canoe Earth and, just as on Hōkūle'a, we need to care for one another an our resources.
