Indubitably the best Sherlock Holmes adaptations. Brett/Burke/Hardwicke were superb, though does anyone know why Burke was replaced? Incidentally, though these are the best adaptations, the books still remain superior.

I read the books growing up and saw loads of films but it wasn't until I saw Jeremy do Holmes that I saw the books come to life. Fantastic.

Sorry Downey Jr. and Cumberbatch - you guys are good (VERY good, in fact) as Holmes.
But you must yield to the brilliant and astonishing Jeremy Brett who captured Holmes' mannerisms, body language, moodiness, personality, indeed, his very soul.
Brett WAS, IS, AND WILL FOREVER BE, the one and only Sherlock Holmes.
