Look at 1:55 - that source of light on top wouldn't project such an image. Light would either have to be INSIDE or attached to the sphere outside and moving along with it as it rotates (source of light would be at point [0,0,0] at 1:57). Right?

No, actually the coefficients are complex numbers. Möbius transformations map the extended complex plane onto itself.

Watch again and notice where the light source is. It is touching the top of the sphere, but if it were inside it would not project the image.
