Lamborghini has released the clearest image yet of its new V12 hypercar that will be launched at next month's Geneva motor show.

The previous mules have all been clad in black, but this latest test car has less cladding and reveals styling that draws inspiration from the Reventon and is a more angular evolution of the Murcielago's styling.

The tub of the new Lamborghini V12 is made entirely from carbonfibre and the suspension is of single-seater-style pushrod design, both firsts for any Lamborghini.

An all-new 6.5-litre V12 engine, the same capacity as the Murcielago's but with 59bhp more at 691bhp and a boost in torque to 509lb ft, will power the new car and it will be mated to a new single-clutch automated manual gearbox.

The gearbox will run in three modes: Strada, which will offer a fully automatic shift if desired, the more focused Sport and the extreme Corsa, which will also include launch control.

The differential set-up includes a computer-controlled unit at the front, instead of the old viscous coupling, a Haldex4-based centre diff and a rear unit that's integrated into the casting of the engine
