Alex's spectacular abilities were sensationalized in the news media, as though it were a talking parrot act. That obscured the significance of the studies, which is why "The Alex Studies" is important...Dr Irene Pepperberg has done groundbreaking experiments, and bringing them together in a panoramic view is a great service...

@nico2710 Listen, I know what it's like to lose a friend. A best friend that I thought was going to always be there for me. I thought we would stay together forever, but we didn't. He was young, a four year old pitbull that had cancer. OBVIOUSLY, you have NEVER had a friend leave your life forever. There are no last good-byes, no last "I love you," and no last apologies, especially if you aren't in the room with them when they die. You might not care now, but trust me, you will. That is fact.

@nico2710 your obviously not a animal owner, losing a pet is just like losing a family member, if you have owned a dog for instance and had it for since it was a puppy and had it for 15 years and then had to have it put to sleep for its own good because of old age or an illness that could never be cured you would be devestated because you will come to think of that animal as a member of your family. so think before you speak.
