I Wanted to use my SLR to do some time lapse, but, not wanting to spend lots of money on a commercial product I used my Arduino.

The Arduino a the stock Diecimila
The middle board is the ProtoShield from nuelectronics.com, mainly used to gain access to the IO with the LCD board on the top
And the top board is the LCD Keypad Shield, again from nuelectronics.com

I may if it proves useful grab some bits and build a new board specifically to run this software.

  • Brilliant! Are your schematics and source code available? I would love to try this out and/or help add features. I would love to add a feature for sensing lightning to take photos of lightning strikes as well.

  • Sadly the source is long gone, it was also a pretty impressive mess.

It's on the list of programs to rewrite at some point.

  • cool. but not very practical :S

if your camera has infrared. you can use this intervalometer: tempus.bymac.org

If there is no infrared input on your camera, you can use this wireless intervalometer: tempusALL.bymac.org

  • Great project! A brilliant use for the arduino!

  • Great project! How long did it take?

I wish my D40 had a 2.5mm jack for the shutter release, I'm now trying to find out the details about the IR interface

  • Awesome demonstration! Will you be offering the source code and build instructions for this?
