The long gone but fondly remembered BRIARCLIFF VILLAGE CINEMA in Atlanta Georgia. Located in the Briarcliff Village Shopping Center on Henderson Mill Road. This film was directed by WPBA Cinema Showcase host and Creative Loafing critic JIM WHALEY. The two kids are played by DAVID KOENIGSEKER and CLIFF CARSON. Inspired by the JACK WILD movies PUFNSTUF and OLIVER! Includes an homage to the Death of Nancy. It's a wonderful short KIDS film. A movie for anyone, but especially grammar, elementary and young teen girls and boys.

Originally and at the time this film was made it was a one screen theatre and a big screen at that. Later a wall was constructed right down the middle and it was converted into a twin theatre. It closed in the early 90's. The last films to be shown there was THE ABYSS and DEAD POETS SOCIETY. The films I saw there as a child are countless.

  • Cute kids and considering that a kid filmed this short, very well done.

  • Thanks, but it was actually a 22 year old adult who filmed this at the time. JIM WHALEY, the host of the WPBS show CINEMA SHOWCASE, who before he got that gig was manager of the Village theatre and allowed David and myself to get in free whenever we wanted. He gave us all the free posters we wanted and even let us bring in our friends. It was a magical time.

  • Yea, those were the days..When you could watch the show, then go SHOOT your own sometimes on 16mm, print it and have fun....wild!

  • I was fortunate enough to be on of those kids who got to see such films as Lost Horizon,Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,Kansas City Bombers as a guest of Mr Jim Whaley and Mr Cliff Carson.

Jim's knowledge of film making was second to none, so it stands to reason that whenever he stood behind the lens there was quality, talent - in a word art!

  • I didn't relaize that. All said, it's well done and thankms for sharing it with us!
