I've been tear gassed before and they should call it cough and vomit when you try to breathe and think you're going to die gas. Those explosions were not the tear gas. Tear gas canisters make a hissing noise. I think the explosions were flashbang grenades, basically the police were throwing bombs and chemical weapons into the crowd. Earplugs and a bandana with lemon juice should help counter those weapons. What did they do in Tahrir Square? They didn't run away. Walk like an Egyptian!

@melyssamunson maybe if the occupy movements had a clearer message,organization and didn't infringe on trespassing laws etc.then maybe it would be taken seriously.i know of a lot of kids who go out there just to say "fuck the police" and they have no idea what theyre really doing.as for me i dont have time to go out to an occupy i have to keep on keepin on with what i got.maybe thats something you can tell your kids i see nothing wrong with ur comment.shame ppl keep bashing on it

@melyssamunson You set a FAR worse example with your attitude than the person who used a so-called "inappropriate" word in this video. What is really inappropriate is your spin. I would hate to be one of your students. So, you think all of these protests all over the planet won't be taken seriously because of some people saying "fuck" when they had TEAR GAS thrown at them? That fails to make sense. You shouldn't even notice the language if you're paying attention to what really matters.

@thethegreenmachine I've looked into this "gas mask law" a little further. Unless a state of emergency is declared, "Intent to protect yourself" is not an arrest violation when weapons are not discovered. Unlawful assembly in itself, and even trespassing is a violation with a higher fine. As I said, just being at #Occupy when the police are in lock-down mode is arrest worthy, gas masks are superfluous of the law at that point. The choice is yours of course. Protect yourself or not.

@thethegreenmachine This is considered unlawful assembly, so it is already illegal. The gas masks are for protection and not for taunting. I keep it in my backpack unless it was needed.

You are in line for an arrest anyway, you may as well protect yourself while you are there.
