The Martin P5M Marlin (P-5 Marlin after 1962), built by the Glenn L. Martin Company of Middle River, Maryland, was a twin engined piston powered flying boat entering service in 1951 and serving into late 1960s in service with the United States Navy for naval patrol. It also served in the U.S. Coast Guard and with the French Navy. 285 were produced overall.
I was in VP31 for a while...N.A.S. North Island.
The P5Ms were a total pain in the ass.
I was an Avionics walla and a boot.
I had to do all the dirty little jobs, like safety wiring.
If you have ever had to work inside a Marlin's Avionics Bay you will know that nothing comes easy.
I went to school at FOITCPAC and never saw a P5M again.
Now I kinda miss them.

I was in VP 46 and a crew member on a P5M-1. Lots of hours on the bird. We were 1 of the last to have 1's, most everyone else had the 2's. That was 1957 to 1962.
