PART2

Dynasty Warriors 5 Xtreme Legends
Chaos Mode
Battle of He Fei Castle (Wei Forces)
Cao Ren

-----

Cao Ren's Maximization

Recommended Weapon:
Medium Weight
Attack / Musou / Fill / Defense / Speed

Recommended Items:
Tiger Amulet / Green Scroll / Wind Scroll / True Way of Musou / Ginseng

-----

Cao Ren has a pretty interesting maximization because pretty indepth gameplay approximations or calculations so to speak, are needed to realize that this proposed setup is very possible. His reach and attacking speed may not be very impressive at all, but it's enough to make this setup work. Also, because of his shield, he doesn't flinch when hit by normal attacks when he's attacking, so getting hit isn't AS BIG of a deal as other characters. This leads to another point in mastering Cao Ren - keep your eye on his Musou bar, and know when it will fill, and be keen with your trigger finger once he gets hit because his Musou bar'll shoot up, and once you get the first hit, successive hits have a high chance of occurring.

As I said before, Cao Ren has relatively short reach and slow attacking speed, but it's good enough to fill his Musou in all important scenarios. First of all, his C3 should obviously be used as often as possible only if it doesn't require extra time to prepare for it. This is because it's basically free Musou filling. But when C3 isn't a good option, he can simply use his normal attacks to fill his Musou, and there are two ways to go about doing it safely. First you need to see that his attacks alternate from side to side with his third normal attack being neutral. If you assume his third normal to hit from left to right then his first five normal attacks alternate perfectly. The reason to adopt this assumption is because if he alternates perfectly, then the best way to attack is to try to shift him to the right a bit during his first normal, left a bit during his second normal, right a bit during his third normal, and so on, until his Musou is filled.
1) So that's basically the first method. This method would be used if a crowd very large. This because no matter what he does he'll get surrounded easily, so you want to attack in a straight line to get closer to the officer, and to maximize hits. His Musou should fill on his fourth or fifth normal attack.
2) If crowds are bit smaller, he can do sort of the same thing but turn around on his third normal attack to sort of attack in a circle. This may allow for C6 to be safer to execute.

The way his Musou works makes it very easy to circle around blocking officers even when completely in front of them. This makes his normal attack filling method not so reckless at all.

In the past I've suggested Musou filling with Cao Ren's C6, but I would say that he gets surrounded far too easily by the time he gets to the execution of it, and because the execution is slow with a Medium weapon, it's very easy to get hit.

With comments on this recording....I made this recording longer to show that this method has consistent results. I also show a minor tip with Musou filling partially after his Musou with his C3, to make things much safer and more guaranteed, but it's often not really necessary.
Sorry how you have to wait until Zhou Tai to see that his regular Musou can kill a playable officer.

Oh ya, when C6 is necessary, the goal is to try to miss officers because if it can be foreseen that C6 will fill Musou, then you want to miss to allow the officer to run after Cao Ren for a perfect Musou setup. The reason to equip the Ice Orb is for when you accidentally hit officers with his C6. This is shown against Cheng Pu.

Cao Ren, with C3 distanced filling option, and fast melee filling option when needed, and a Musou that is strong enough to kill playable officers, his style is very similar to Zuo Ci's. Get your head around how KOEI and fans praise Zuo Ci and underestimate Cao Ren, and look at things objectively, and you'll see that these two characters are of the same tier. Cao Ren is perhaps the most underrated character KOEI warriors games.

  • description: this one is part two

damn he has such a strong ass musou! nice scattering ending too, pretty zhoutai kill

ur attacking pattern with him is not that easy to tell if u dont actually describe it haha, very good update. hm just wonderin cuz it's not that obvious to me at the moment, in which way does he not match pangde and lubu?

  • good question haha. He's really no different from guys like Zuo Ci or Sun Jian. He has no freedom of that musou fill to musou execution transition at all. Notice that it's extremely important to have crowd clustered together so he can actually fill with his normal attacks. This is pretty much the same as Sun Jian or Liu Bei (btw my Liu Bei vid is AWESOME, upload tomorrow), because if the crowd situations aren't right, he's gotta lead and survey the situation

  • but hmmm Im not sure if I might be tempted to rank him higher than sword guys. Really not sure. Because it's not that hard to force the right situations and once he's allowed to fill musou with his normals, he can circle around officers with his musou very easily while Sun Jian and Liu Bei can't

  • But anyway, Pang De and Lu Bu would own multiple officers far safer and better than Cao Ren. Cao Ren also MUST attack before he gets surrounded which makes him not a good character against mounted officers with the goal of defeating that officer right after dismounting him/her. Lu Bu can just C3, while Pang De has high height attacks, or he can use C3, or JC.

Which of course reminds me......Liu Bei's JC has far more valuable uses than cheap fill. He can dismount playables, then musou....

  • @DW5chaosmodeguide man i love cao rens musou

  • as i see "yeah".

  • lol

  • ya it does, if it kills playables it kills all that r not buffed or used def up technique

  • Wow. That musou attack is deadly. Does it always kill all officers (except commander) in one musou?

  • That's an understatement. We're talking about the Asian Juggernaut Bitch XD

  • Over 9000 more enemies outlasted :P

  • kickass

  • CHUMS UP LET'S DO THIS LEEROOOOOOY ROCKMAN

Despite their speed and range, Ren's S attacks always seemed protective to me. (After all, they cover his entire front and sides.) Interesting to see that they actually are. Prudent Leeroying really fits the tank theme of his character design and non-flinching ability.

Given Ren's Sensitive Badass characterization, I think KOEI is fond of him, even though he doesn't get Zhang Liao or Xiahou Dun pimpage. He does need more love from the fan base.

  • yup very good points haha~ hm i was thinking caoren should be higher than the sword guys from this vid too, not a tier higher however. hm now i'm realli looking forward to that liubei vid tmr, i wonder which weapon u ended up
