But he didn't say the names of the types of clay for each particular method, eg. what type of clay to use for hand building?

I just got my first potters wheel and im not exactly going to fire any pieces that i make just yet. I'm wondering first of all, which type of clay is best to start off with while im learning to throw? This has been my biggest issue so far because theres so many types of clay. I just wanna work on making vases, bowls and things of that nature. Any suggestions?
