Cool and inspiring idea, Dan. Thanks for the coverage, Rocketboom.

@OhNoItsGojira i think it was roughly 60 days out on the street over the course of a little over a year. so on average it was about one day a week for 3 hours. All self funded and i spent much more money on it that i earned. Mostly i make my living from contract/freelance work in engineering and art installations. But I do hope that someday there is actually a sustainable business of this sort. Always a work in progress! ;)

maybe you could winterize it with wood or... plexy-glass, I can't imagine that thing going far what with the cardboard and snow and salt and whatnot.

I'd love to ride this redhead.

This reminds me of a show that used to be on MuchMusic (canada's equivalent more or less to MTV), where there used to be a booth with a camera and you could record random thoughts or opinions which would be presented in a show on the channel. It was called Speaker's Corner, pretty popular back in the mid 90s.

pretty cool stuff. what does this guy do for a real living though? how often could he really be out pushing that cart and live in brooklyn?

That is a really cool idea. There really needs to be more conversations going on face to face instead of always being on a device. The mobile video is just an awesome idea and love it.

I am quite impressed with this type of stuff. Congratulations for a good job and for your creativity.

i love how home made it looks. lol
I like stories like this since ultimately it's not about the technology involved but about people who got up off of their "internet asses", built something and took it outside to share with others. Thanks Ella and crew.

LENORE: Toronto used to have a video booth called 'SPEAKERS CORNER' PERCHED in a hub in a vibrant downtown district. The recording haul was edited into weekly TV show that was great to watch and gave a great feel to the City. Having all those Stoners, Hockey Moms(?!), Tourists, Drunks, the WEAK & WEARY, Homeless folk, folk with grievances, musicians, teenagers, and the maladjusted just letting loose. It was shut down after being bought out by a conservative media conglomerate - AND NOTHING MORE.
