I noticed within the past few months that my Samsung Plasma, during dark scenes in movies, would show alot of red or green digital specks like static or digital noise. I did some searching and found that the Vs or Va probably needed adjustment and that it was an easy fix for a repair man as it only required a phillips head screw driver. So I took of my back panel and noticed there were alot of places on circuit boards that had these places a screw driver would adjust and just decide to start closest to the power supply and work my up, so on my first tweak counter clockwise all my static disapeared so I left it alone. Had turning that screw not done anything, I would of just turned it back to its original position and moved to the next one until I noticed something happening. I had to remove alot of screws from around the tv, so I suggest you use an electric screw driver to make it less of a pain.

  • I don't know if this is the same problem I have with my hdtv, but my screen has a type of "red fuzz" that borders the bottom and top of the screens and sometimes it gets really bad, then fades away but it always comes back. Super annoying, since it's suppose to be 1080p. It makes the picture grainy even though I'm using HDMI, only the very very center of the screen is unaffected.

  • y r fucking wit ur tv man??? u should send it to the company and just pay for the repair and have the company pay for the parts!

  • why dose all plasma tv's have this problem?

  • increasing the drive voltage can result in ysus & zsus failure.

i would certainly check the psu voltage b4 any adjustments are made, voltage settings can be found on rear of plasma screen, eg va - vs. 60v/200v roughly. depending on screen size etc.

I have been called out to repair plenty of plasma tv's but twiddlers/dabblers have already had a go and caused too much damage.

If in doubt get a qualified tv tech and ask for a rough price first.

  • dont adjust that pot (variable resistor) all the way counter clockwise, first mark all the pots to indicate the original positions, adjust the pot slowly until the speckles (mal discharge) are reduced to a satisfactory level.

some chassis have a control pcb flash to alter the timing and reduce this but it isnt easy to do (if you get it wrong with the checksum or flash version it will destroy Y & Z sus on power up).All the pot trimming is doing is increasing the Ysus drive voltage.

  • I guess that will keep it working for about 3 or 4 months before they came back.

  • shit i got 4 of those screws

  • i would say you voided its warentee but most of this technologie stuff is made to break from a day to a decade after the warentee goes out. they should make these warentees longer and if its broke by accident then they should fix it for free for any purchaser.

  • THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!!!

  • the white little adjustment screw is a conductor in a screening can
