  • Thanks Tom!! You're the best!

  • Another good one...... but how to free those firred up, corroded valves, Tom? Guess it's back to bunging or draining the system and a pair of new valves. Thanks, Tom. Merry Xmas, look forward to more tips.

  • this is also the time to check the fault was not just the impellor blade slipping as this can bethe total fault even if its rinning free.

screwdriver in front turn & hold the blades to check for slippage..

open & close gate valves that letby if not sealing after 2 times then freeze or drain.hang system etc.

  • Tom if you get a chance, can you do a video on siezed gate valves that dont close off the water in circumstances like this? Cheers fella.

  • Disturbing pump valves not a good idea- especially the slotted screwdriver type -50% of the time they will leak afterwards.

O n a siezed pump 80% of the will free after taking 2 hammers to it. - sounds drastic but aint, hold lump hammer (larger of the two) and give it a belt with (claw hammer) - bing - job done.

  • Tom, quick question. The part you suggest we clean and lubricate...is that actually a part that spins? Only the impeller and its bearings seem to spin within the cylinder on the part you suggest we grease?

    Hope this question makes sense.

  • Thanks Tomplum,

Our central heating woke us in the night with thumping banging and a sound like fingernails scraping down the inside of the walls. Sent my wife to investigate she was having none of it. Turns out the boiler broken and after lots of internet forums and googling found your tips on youtube.

I have flushed to system refurbished the pump and the" jobs a goodun".

    Thanks.

    Cost 4 hose clips+rust inhibiter from B&Q

PS..What are your veiws on these solutions....any more tips.

  • Excellent tip tom, should get a lot of people out of trouble
