I've been cooking with cast iron for 20+ years with the scouts. You can use soap on cast iron, but you just have to follow it with drying and with oil. Mostly, tho, it's not necessary to use soap. Just clean with water on a warm grill.

They use water and a wet rag at the Japanese restaurants so why not? You dont want to use soap though, theres no info on Wolfs website about cleaning yours?

I thought you never use water on a steel griddle! I'm still unable to clean my rolled steel griddle (Wolf range). Any good advice?

That might be the trick, you would think as expensive as the Webers are it would work good. Its not the Sizzle Q's fault, thanks for the info.

@Pandmonium2k7 yes I did get them but it doesn't specify what kind of oil and whether or not to use soapy water the first time! Do u remember what kind of oil u used? And I notice u used Pam at the end of this video. Once it's cool do u cover and leave it til next time or do u do anything else? Finally, when u use the grill next time do u just heat and place food on the grill or do u need to clean, season then use? Sorry for all the ?'s but you're the only person on here with good videos.

Never use soap on it, just a wet rag or towel. I use vegetable oil now on it after cleaning applied while still warm with a paper towel then cover with my blackstone cover and thats it. When I use each time I just wipe off and heat up and cook as you would in a pan if you need oil for it to not stick do so. its like cast iron kinda you have to keep it seasoned to keep it nonstick.

Pandmonium2k7 when u first put the grill together before using it for the first time, how did u clean and prepare it for the first time use? I just got mine yesterday after watching your other videos and it's not dirty but I want to know how to prep it so I can use it.

No good info on Wolfs website for cleaning. It does show how to season the griddle which I've done. But after making bacon & eggs, I scraped the grill clean but it's not really clean looking: all streaked black from food. Not sure if this is all part of the seasoning process. wondering how restaurants clean theirs so beautifully daily. I'm afraid to cook on it because it's such a hassle to clean up!

Well mine is not stainless steel and it gets discolored from use and im ok with that, im sure stainless is gonna get darker as its used too. You can search for a griddle brick or a stone its called, never used one but have seen them. Good luck
