Sounds like bits-and-pieces collection from different composers, from Tihon Khrennikov to Dimitry Shostakovich, from Boris to Peter Tchaikovsky and from Revol Bunin to who-knows who...even a little bit of Mahler in there... I'm lost... Pletnev is all composed and well-poised, solid conducting, as always.

This concerto was written in 1998 and dedicated to Y.Bashmet. Unfortunately I have only these 2 pieces but the CD is already recorded by A.Akimov and soon is going to be published.

I liked this a lot. It is a great contribution to the viola repertoire. Mr. Akimov exhibits great technique. I hear fine nuances and interesting sounds. The influence of Tchaikovsky is evident in the composition?

For me it's sounds more from Rachmaninov and somitimes it reminds Shostakovitch... But anyway it's an interesting music and Alexander's performance is outstanding!
