At Kavanagh's Irish Pub, friends and fellow cops of the late Ray Cole gather to uphold a Baltimore police tradition: a final drink with their deceased friend. (Cole was played by the show's late executive producer Robert F. Colesberry and the character's wake was in part a tribute to the actor who portrayed him.)

  • J. Landsman is usually a grotesque figure...doesn't seem to work too much, looks at a lot of porn magazines...however, here and there he gives the deepest and even the most beautiful speeches in the Wire. Just another of those contradictions from this great series

  • One of the most moving scenes I've ever come across. For all his ball breaking and bluster, Landsman's love for his troops truly shines here. That's a proper send out.

  • @manuteboler Yeah you're a cunt.

  • @Murreh Come on now, coming from a HUGE fan of The Wire, The Sopranos is the greatest series in TV history by a million miles. The writing was insanly good, how they managed to make such a violent series with a ton of murder and violence as hilarious as they did is an accomplishment in and of itself, thats what makes it stand apart, it entertains you with drama and comedy, it was just such a unique show.

  • RIP Robert Colesberry

  • @landondonovanify Some of Irish heritage will put the body on display and have a drink to not mourn their death, but to celebrate their life.

  • @nougatzimmerframe Thanks, good to know. I also didn't know the first 2 times or so I watched this show that the actor actually died. Pretty crazy.

  • The speech doubles as a tribute to Robert Colesbury's career as well as the character he played on "The Wire". The "Mississippi Extradition, The Arson Murders" are a shout out to "Mississippi Burning" on which Colesbury was a Producer, similarly "the triple over at the After Hours on Hudson Street" refers to Scorsese's "After Hours" which Colesbury also produced. "Fayette Street, '93, the drug wars" refers to David Simon and Ed Burns' previous HBO effort "The Corner".

  • @landondonovanify It's an Irish tradition.

  • Its an irish tradition, make sure the the guys dead before you bury him.
