Is it better than boil the water? can it clean the water of the heavy minerals?

@TheMrAlexrj Yes and no. Yes, because boiled water tastes terrible, but no because this filter could not be trusted to provide potable water if there werte a legitimate boil water advisory. Yes, it does reduce lead, but not ALL heavy metals. For a more serious kind of filtration, you should consider Reverse Osmosis.

My lid doesn't fit tightly. When I go to pour the water into a glass it keeps coming off. Should it fit tight or not?

@bobbijoc3 Unfortunately it is not a leak proof lid. It should fit snugly, but if the top half of the pitcher is full it will almost certainly leak. Not sure why yours is falling off. That doesn't sound right. I would consider returning it to the place of purchase.
