This is a revisit of one of my previous videos, "A Day With The "Blues Brothers." This time with a rare, wintry touch added. I found it ironic that the two units that are almost always assigned to this job (9401 and 9561, former CN GP40-LWs) were not in use here today. Of all the fleet, those two units are the only ones truly outfitted for snowy conditions.
With SF5700 at the controls, the "Blue's Brothers" make the trip though a rare Northern Alabama winter wonderland! FCR 2002 (GP20) is on point today with, likely, the best horn of the ATN fleet, a beautifully tuned, former CSX Leslie RS5T.
Our first scene is of the train entering Albertville and passing the historic NC&StL (L&N) station there.
Next, after the first switching operation of the run has been completed at Huhtamaki (Chinet,) the train heads for Guntersville as it passes an old, no longer used spur track.
Coming across Lake Guntersville now, the intensity of the falling snow becomes apparent and makes for a nice wintry scene.
With the switching operations along the lakeside in Guntersville now complete, and passing the historic NC&StL (L&N) station in Guntersville, all that is left to do before proceeding to the next stop is to wye the engines. This was done due to a windshield wiper malfunction on the GP20 unit. With that, we also have to say good bye to the great sounding Leslie as well. I had a brief chance to talk to the engineer here too. Always a pleasure to talk to SF5700, a great guy!
With yet another switching operation complete, and the snow finally letting up, I get quick shot over what is known as East Lake. One more switching operation is left to be completed in Guntersville at Tucker Milling, then train begins the uphill battle headed for Albertville. The horn salute here adds a nice touch too.
Coming off of the last parts of the grade up Sand Mountain, the train proceeds to the final stop for the day at H.J. Baker Feeds to swap out some hopper cars before heading for home.
And our parting shots are of the train passing through Albertville headed for home in Gadsden.
Thanks for watching!

Very interesting video!! Glad you posted. Only complaint: the aspect ratio seems a little off so the engines appear taller and skinnier than they should. Other than that, very enjoyable!

Thanks for the compliment!
Yeah, I did it in 16:9 as I have a wide-screen monitor and it did look fine. However, I just watched it again and it looks like something has changed on youtube's end. It looks ok in full screen for me, but does appear off in the normal view like it's trying to force 4:3 or something.
