Ahmad Jamal POINCIANA Live at l'Espace Carpeaux at Courbevoie, France 14/10/2009

I was lucky enough to be at the first row, a few meters from this extraordinay genius, actually my favorite one with Thelonious Monk. At 79, nobody plays like Ahmad Jamal and he's playing here Poinciana one of his most famous masterpiece.
James Cammack is on the bass, Kenny Washington on drums and Manolo Badrena on percussions.
Enjoy ! And don't miss is forthcoming record, a quiet time !

  • Kenny Washington is a genius of modern jazz drumming and on here is keeping the spirit of Vernel Fournier alive. God bless him for that.

  • :15 to :20 is so goddamn beautiful. Definitely the highlight of this vid

  • That's the baddest mother fucker on that bass, boy ....

  • You send me your bank info and I'll send you $500 for this beautiful video.

This is the privilege of every soul to see, in this generation, past and forth.]

  • I thank you and our god for this.

  • @schimmelpenninq You, person, are a complete idiot. You must have no clue the importance of this groove and what Vernel Fournier did for the drumming world. The genius is in the simplicity and creativity....then again, I wouldn't expect you to understand that. Moron.

  • The young brother I was dating at the time introduced me to Jazz with this song. I was 14 and he was 15. I was awe struck. Needless to say he knew how to get my heart and my attention. 13 years later we got married. I thank him continually for opening my heart and mind to this music and he could not have chosen a better intro. That was in 1958

  • terrible drummer!

  • Borse Chune...and this Aggregation is tighter than fish bottom! Ahmad is still a scorcher! :)

  • Fantastic

  • 'A Man of No Words" Saw Ahmad in the early 60's in Detroit. He walked on stage, never looking at the audience, sat down played for over 2 hrs, got up and walked off the stage without saying one word. No one complained. What wonderful music.
