The late Dixie Carter sat down with Ernie in 2008 to discuss what it means to be a Southerner, her memories of meeting her husband Hal Holbrook, and the impact that the series "Designing Women" had on her life and her career. Episodes of "InnerVIEWS with Ernie Manouse" are available on DVD at houstonpbs.org.

  • She was a trip!! Full of class. Very entertaining in every interview she gives :)

  • What a Great Great lady...

  • One can already see that she was neomg affected by her illness here, looking gaunt and thin. A shame, for sure. Loved the character she played in 'Designing Women', even when I found out that she was the antithesis of the Julia Sugarbaker part, not a liberal but a conservative. Also saw her in 'Master Class' shortly before it closed after Zoe Caldwell and Patti Lupone left and she really was remarkable playing Maria Callas. A talented women, indeed, and missed. Lost her at too young an age. RIP

  • GREAT ARTIST AND BEAUTIFUL LADY ...I'M SO SORRY...REST IN PEACE.

  • @mikesterSTLMO go to hell, Glenda!

  • @brejacks Who gave you permission to address me? Now off you go before someone throws a house on you too!

  • @mikesterSTLMO

And you conservatives are any better, you hypocritical self rightious bastard! I am a liberal yet I admire Dixie Carter, I may not agree with everything but I do agree with things going too fast these days. Dixie Carter seems more moderate republican to me, thank god! For a republican she is very open minded and I admire her for that as well.

  • Wonderful lady, I loved listening to her and watching her videos , she gave me so much peace, thank you Dixie.RIP

  • @mikesterSTLMO Indeed.

  • So glad you uploaded this gem, Houston PBS. When I hear the term "southern belle", I think of Dixie Carter. Just a beautiful, kind southern lady. She is really missed. Someday when passing through TN, I would like to place some magnolias at her grave. I wish she was still here giving us great performances.
