Last time we took you down the streets of downtown Los Angeles and explored CicLAvia, this time we're taking you down the waters of the Los Angeles River and showing you a secret that might literally be right up your alley.

For the past two years, The City of Los Angeles along with its many partners, including The Los Angeles Conservation Corps (LACC) and the Army Corps of Engineers, has developed a pilot program that lets the general public paddle the LA River! The program has taken place down a 1.5 mile stretch of the Los Angeles River in the San Fernando Valley. Each tour was guided by members of the LA Conservation Corps and included educational talks about the river and surrounding wildlife.

But the pilot program isn't the only secret we have to share with you,

Did you know that the LA river stretches for 32 miles within the city of Los Angeles! Long seen as a concrete backdrop in Hollywood movies, the river is currently undergoing a master revitalization aimed at restoring a functional ecosystem, connecting neighborhoods to the river and extending open recreational space. Today there are many locations along the river that allow Angelenos to experience this waterway and its recreational benefits.
