PROGRAM 2 PART 1 of the1988 documentary of the life and career of violinist Ida Haendel, produced and directed by Richard Bocking. Ms. Haendel has had an extraordinary career spanning over 7 decades. It includes excerpts from many recital and orchestral performances with conductors Zubin Mehta (Israel Philharmonic Orchestra), Paavo Berglund (Finnish Radio Orchestra), Gennadi Rozhdestvensky (London Symphony Orchestra), Charles Dutoit (Montreal Symphony Orchestra) Claudio Scimone (Il Solitsti Veneti) and others.
My greatest musical memory is of hearing Ida play the Elgar concerto in London around fifteen years ago. It was a truly profound experience, spiritual even. I'll never forget it. The opening moments of this excerpt brought that wonderful occasion flooding back - THANK YOU!
