This clip has been uploaded to supplement a review of the Criterion Collection release of the last great American noir, "Blast of Silence" (1961), directed, written, and starring Allen Baron. The inimitable voice you hear, a hardboiled miracle, is that of the great Lionel Stander; the narration was written by blacklisted writer Waldo Salt.
Another GREAT "Lost" movie. I saw this in a flea pit in Ireland when it first came out. The narration throughout is sensational and the movie stayed with me . I'd even forgotten the title until it cropped up on German tv one night. I discovered an old VHS copy on EBAY . I still watch it every so often.

One of my favorite beginnings in all films. It tells you , you're about to see an uncompromising film noir, a cold punch right to the core of the viewer. What happened to Allen Baron that he never directed anything close (to my knowledge) in quality to this? or did he?
