  • Here is the Problem. Hold a phone that close to your eyes and try to focus on it. Any display will also do that. you need a way to focus the image farther away from your face. are you will have the biggest head ache and case of eye strain you have ever had.

    You're right. Would need some kind of optical system (lenses). I'm actually working on a concept to use head-mounted projectors and mirrors to project an image onto a lightweight screen suspended sufficient distance from your eyes for a comfortable focus length, all enclosed a lightweight veil. Stay tuned for a video on the concept.

  • Several things about the camera: 1) It would need to have a really wide angle. 2) It would need to have relatively high framerate 3) same thing with resolution. 4) There would have to be 2 camerase for 3D view.I would solve it with a semi-transparent display. Also, head tracking using ir leds... Why not to use accelerometers? And what about earphones?

  • I've always thought about the screens for an HMD as two hemispheres near the eyes balls with a tracking system so that the HD is only where the focus is (perhaps with contact lenses that not only help the macro vision but also the tracking with a magnetic insert),the peripheral vision is in LOW definition.

    The tracking drives the movement of two cameras so that the "true" reality is shown under the augmented one in stereo vision.

  • Neat presentation with the naration and 3D rendering.

    Couple of comments. You'd need to a way to put the image in the display, or iphone, out at infinity so your eyes could focus. Put your iphine inches from your eyes and see what it looks like. Traditional HMDs do this with optics.

    In place of the camera, its nice to have semitransparent display so the viewer can look strait through to the outside world to get the super resolution and dynamic range the eye naturally has.
