  • One of my most treasured memories in life was when during a gig in the 70's Art told me I was sounding pretty good lately and that he'd consider using me on an upcoming recording. RIP Art.

  • How I loved him, had a ticket for the concert he did not do, by obvius reasons.

  • " The Trip" expanded Arts role in jazz- as great as anything Trane, Mingus or anyone wrote. Truth be told- Art Pepper went places in his music few ever went. Why? Because of his honesty as a player and his love of his art. The Trip, is one of my favorite Art compositions...and his solos will last forever.

  • Amazing. Thank you for posting this.

  • "Straight Life" actually follows the changes to "After You've Gone" but at a breakneck pace. You may be able to find the chart in a fakebook or on the web.

  • thank you soo much for the help...also i have subscribed to the art pepper web site now...so i will be emailed when u post it if u can find a copy.

    thanks much

  • Laurie,

Your book, Straight Life, had a huge impact on me over 25 years ago. Looking forward to your finished work.

  • Great job on everything, Laurie! I can't wait to see the rest of the movie when you've finished it.
