In my own humble opinion, this is the most accomplished music score John Williams has ever done, all the crescendos are in the most perfect place, the orchestrations are understated and sublime; a true maestro at work showing that not every great score has to be thunderous and omnipotent, that that much power can be achieved also in a subdued and quietly eloquent manner. The entire music for the film is a magnificent work of art.

I totally agree....the whole movie was worth the ending itself. I repeat it over and over. This movie grows on you. When I first saw it many years ago, I found it sort of boring as so many people do. But I recently rediscovered it on cable and now I am hooked. William Hurt is the greatest actor ever-his face says it all ! And the nostalgic music, what a combination...

I love the baggage scene. He left everything he thought was valuable to him on the street, except the photo of his son. Wonderful scene.

this is one of the best cinematic finals ever, so inspired, it gets everyone hoping that special someone will stop for us, and the music just wonderful.
