( http://wakeup2thelies.com ) highlight/clip from Insiders 26/June/2011 on ABC Bob Brown wants the carbon tax to end the coal industry goodbye jobs and money with no change to the worlds temperature .

BARRIE CASSIDY: But when you say negligible impact do you also say then that no coal mines will closed?
BOB BROWN: I would expect that in the future we are going to see some of the most polluting enterprises in the country have a struggle. That's the nature.
BARRIE CASSIDY: And how quickly after the introduction of the tax?
BOB BROWN: Well, we're still negotiating a scheme.
BARRIE CASSIDY: But it could close down some of these mines overnight?
BOB BROWN: I would not figure that in because they are just so highly profitable.
But that has to be the outcome. You know the coal industry has to be replaced by renewables.

  • @NakedWombatStuff Hey I think she's a turd too. Labor still gets my second to last preference though, just ahead of the LibNats.

  • @HeWhoKnocks And because I think Gillard is a turd, I must be a Lib voter. Not everybody votes ideologically, mate.

  • @NakedWombatStuff you're worried about socialism? I suppose you're happy with Tony Abbott's policy of providing subsidies for polluting industries as an "incentive" to get them to pollute less? Look up Direct Action Policy if you want to know about that.

  • @NakedWombatStuff Not to mention that the compensation end of the package has wrapped up all the most vulnerable groups in cotton wool.

  • @NakedWombatStuff If people can't afford the carbon tax then by comparison the GST should've just about killed them. The tax is so low impact that almost no one is even going to notice and supposed negative impacts. Also having a degree doesn't mean you are wealthy or necessarily have a high paying job. It's more likely you will but it's no guarantee.

  • @brentoneccles All that shows is that wealthy, the Chardonnay Socialist Set, are once again into their little social ploys. They have no idea how other people live and deal with their views but we have to put up with their shit. Just because you're wealth and have a degree, doesn't equal anything positive but must make you more careful. Just look at the carbon tax BS. They can afford it. Nobody else can.

  • @NakedWombatStuff Well that's fine. I'm just pointing out that it's silly to imply that uneducated people exist specifically within one voting demographic. In reality in the Greens case they poll best in electorates with larger proportions of people with university level education. Not to imply they're a 'smarter' party, or anything at all - but that is an interesting point.

  • @brentoneccles I couldn't give a shit about the Liberals or Labor.

  • @NakedWombatStuff I really, really wouldn't play the 'I met a Green voter who said this' game though, if I were you. There are also dumb Libs out there who think that migration of Islamic people is a recent thing to Oz, that we are a "Judeo-Christian" nation, that coming to Australian shores by boat is 'illegal', that our current debt levels are out of control, etc, etc,... All laughable stuff but Libs swallow it hook-line-and-sinker.

  • @NakedWombatStuff They are not. Such a claim is almost as hysterical as the idea that white man made the desert. Investment/growth in Oz is still going at record highs. What you fools have to realise is that the Greens got -some- influence over the carbon pricing package (not much, really, if you compare their policies to the actual package) and now this package is all about Labor and what it wants to do with it.
