  • i herd the reason for the revolution war was coz the americans wer fed up ov british taxes. now to be honest americans are just as british as us lol remember 4 000 000 americans have british heritage and ther ancesters wer british settlers.

  • @balderdashandpiffle Despite Britain having acquired all legal claims to the islands before the creation of Argentina.

  • @chufuss Well it was mostly their Militias that did the fighting, but after the war of 1812 we avoided conflict with he USA avoiding conflict over the Canadian Border and ceded our territories in the West of the current USA (Washington State, Montana and other states) to the USA. In the War of 1812 you won your spurs and stopped being merely a rebellious ex- colony but a nation worthy of respect.

  • @chufuss Ah the joys of history - every one is taught their own version. The Argentineans believe the Falklands is theirs despite having acquired all international claims to it prior to the creation of Argentina. Similarly the Spanish think) Gibraltar is theirs despite the fact that by Treaty it was succeeded to us in (I think 1794 in exchange for the Balearic Islands (Minorca, Majorca and Ibiza) and 20,000 Gold Sovereigns.

  • @balderdashandpiffle : ..and you know the Canadians take all the credit for winning the war

  • @balderdashandpiffle : Yea, you had your hands full that's for sure. You seem to know more about history then I do. I didn't even know we were assisted by the Spanish or Dutch during the revolutionary war. We (Americans) truly know there were outside factors. I was actually taught in the school that the British fought us, or beat us down, until we were no longer a threat to Canada, so they could then focus on Napoleon.

  • @chufuss True but the British Empire was engaged in fighting an annoying little corsican fellow at the time. Besides we never did have a large army lol.

  • @chufuss Yes you were worth keeping but not at the expense of war with France, Spain and Holland.

  • @balderdashandpiffle : Come on man. We were not that important. Not just a little worth keeping?

  • @balderdashandpiffle : Yes, we did fail to take Canada. However we won several land battles: Baltimore, Plattsburg, York (burned in Canada). But we were a new nation fighting against the British Empire. Ok I guess that since we did not take Canada you could say we didn't win the war. Cut us a break. We were just a bunch of hyper -religious farners fighting the British Empire. Well look at us now. Our two nations the best of allies
