This 1935 news flash, which typically would have circulated as an add-on to films of the day along with a cartoon or two, is the American National Housing Act's attempt to show that residential housing will be better soon. First, viewers are given a quick history lesson, and introduced to the government's response: funding for projects to make new houses, and in turn, more jobs. The last part follows a couple through a Model House, which they only wish they can afford. But they CAN! Mortgage payments are only $27 a month, after putting down $960 cash.... WE wish.

  • The kitchen no had icebox.

  • That house wasn't even $5000. Depending on where its located now, it's probably 125,000. INSANITY!
