  • It should be sung in the half English half French version all the time instead of just English, both are official languages so it should be that way.

  • @ICOboeHockey It doesn`t matter who the oppenent is, its sung in french because french is 1 of two official languages on Canada, it has the same status as english, only its spoken by less.

  • What is the big deal? Many rinks only play the music. Here, we have great vocals to boot!

I grew up in a district in Montréal where there were children from everywhere around the world. And with World Cup Football matches, we learned to sing ALL the anthems and didn't think nothing of it.

  • even if they were facing the Habs it still wouldn't be customary for the song to be sung in french in chicago. that would be like the star spangled banner sung in spanish in Vancouver.

  • In respect, I think those singer's around the NHL who know the french version, should sing the Canadien National Anthem in part french. This is only the second recent time I have heard someone outside of Montreal and Ottawa sing the anthem in French. Rene Rancourt did so a couple years ago in Boston(GO BRUIN'S!!!)

  • WOW, I am SHOCKED. Canadian National Anthem, en français, IN CHICAGO.

  • i kno when i first saw this i thought it would be montreal or something

  • Some of the anthem is French, since Montreal is a very french city.

  • This is Jim Corneleson singing before the Chicago Blackhawks vs. Calgary Flames in Chicago, he sings at all the hawks games and he works with my mom. I asked my mom to ask him why he sung this in french and he said he learned the french version for the Winter Classic because he was unsure whether or not he was singing the canadian anthem at the Winter Classic. He sung it here cause he wanted to sing it once before he forgot the words

  • what the heck?!?! that doesn't make any sence...lol singing in french?!?! it's Calgary
